Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how The Neritic ("The Neritic", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Local Bridge software ("Software") and visit our website. This policy is specific to Local Bridge and should be read alongside The Neritic's general Privacy Notice.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
Local Bridge is designed with a privacy-first philosophy. The CLI binary operates entirely on your local machine. We do not:
- Monitor, intercept, or log the contents of files, APIs, or web traffic you share through tunnels.
- Track your browsing behavior, usage patterns, or analytics within the Software.
- Collect personal information beyond what is strictly necessary for license validation.
- Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We do not process sensitive personal information (such as racial data, health data, or biometrics).
2. Information We Collect
To ensure legitimate usage and prevent piracy, your Local Bridge installation communicates with our licensing server during activation, verification, and upgrade checks. The only data transmitted during these requests is:
- License Key: Your unique license token, used to validate your purchase against the Whop platform.
- Device Identifier: A non-reversible hash derived from your machine's hostname and operating system. This is used to enforce seat limits and cannot be used to identify you personally.
- Software Version: Your current CLI version number, used to check for available updates.
- Operating System & Architecture: Used to serve the correct binary during upgrades (e.g., Windows AMD64, macOS ARM64, Linux AMD64).
- Email Address: Your email associated with your Whop account, provided by the Whop API during license validation.
3. Payment Data
Local Bridge purchases are processed through Whop Payments. Whop and its payment partners handle checkout payment and billing information under Whop's own privacy policy and platform terms. Local Bridge does not ask you to submit payment card details directly to us, and we do not intentionally store payment card details in our own systems.
4. Third-Party Services
Local Bridge integrates with the following third-party services. When your data or traffic passes through these services, their respective privacy policies apply:
- Cloudflare: Network tunneling runs through Cloudflare's global edge network. Cloudflare may collect standard TCP/HTTP access logs (such as IP addresses) as outlined in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Whop: Licensing, payment, and distribution are managed by Whop, subject to the Whop Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Marketing Website: We do not use session-replay tooling, third-party advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking scripts on the marketing site. We do use first-party redirect routes (for example, outbound /go/* links) to measure which public CTAs are clicked before a visitor reaches Whop or another destination. Those redirects may process standard request metadata such as timestamp, referrer, and user-agent, along with ordinary hosting and CDN request logs needed to deliver the site.
Tunnel File Browser: When password protection is enabled (--password), the Local Bridge file server sets a single HTTP-Only, session-scoped authentication cookie on the visitor's browser. This cookie is used solely to maintain the authenticated session and expires when the tunnel is stopped. It is not shared with any third party and contains no personally identifiable information.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited data we collect exclusively for the following purposes:
- Validating your license key and enforcing device activation limits.
- Delivering software updates and upgrade notifications.
- Responding to support inquiries you initiate.
- Preventing fraud and unauthorized use of the Software.
7. Data Retention
License activation data (license key, device hash, email associated with your Whop account) is retained on our servers for as long as your license is active and we have an ongoing business need to process it. If your license is revoked, refunded, or otherwise no longer requires active verification, we may delete or anonymize that activation data within a reasonable period, subject to backup retention, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and operational needs.
8. International Data Transfers
Our licensing infrastructure and service providers may operate in multiple jurisdictions. If you access the Software from a region with data protection laws that differ from those of the infrastructure or providers involved, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed outside your home jurisdiction. We take reasonable measures to protect data in transit using industry-standard encryption such as TLS where applicable.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your activation data.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
10. Children's Privacy
The Software is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Software, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of a minor and consent to such use. If we learn that personal information from individuals under 18 has been collected, we will take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under 18, please contact us at [email protected].
11. Website Analytics
Our current website measurement is limited to first-party outbound click attribution and standard infrastructure logs. We do not run session replay, heatmaps, or broad behavioral profiling on the marketing site. If we later add additional analytics tooling, this policy will be updated before that change goes live.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users through the Software or on this page. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
